Hi,

Using: iPhone 4 (OS v. 4.0.2)

The sound played when a new message is received is very short, even with the volume set high it is easily missed in a noisy environment, regardless of which alert sound is selected. When a phone call is received the ringtone repeats so it is far more easily heard.

What I want to achieve is either getting a new message alert to repeat several times in quick succession (as a ringtone would behave) or to add a custom new message alert which is about 20-30 seconds long to increase my chances of hearing it, or assign a normal ringtone to my new message alerts. Can any of these be done?

BUT there's a problem... I'm a new user, got my iPhone 4 a week ago (my first iPhone), when I went through the activation process I saw the update to OS v. 4.0.2 and updated the phone without realizing this might be inconvenient later on, so I can't Jailbreak my phone.

Is there any other way I might be able to sort out my new message alerts?

Finally is it expected that Jailbreak will be available for v. 4.0.2?

Thanks everyone.
