Text Build In/Out Speed in Final Cut Pro X

I am wondering if it's possible to control how quickly text builds in and out in Final Cut Pro X (10.0.1). I have a 3 second clip, and the text takes a second to build and a second to build out leaving me with the entire text there for a second. I want to make the text build in and build out each in half a second.

Can someone please tell me how to do this?
