text edit autosave file lost

Textedit program started an autosave file of a file i had already been working on. so i started working in the autosave version of the file. i saved that version and closed it. Now I can't find it anywhere? Is it gone for good?

I think you are out of luck, as soon as you do a manual save TextEdit deletes the auto-save !
