I have a document that I've been working on in Text Edit. When I went to open it today it would not open and I got the message "the file could not be opened because it is not in the right format".

I don't remember saving it any differently, last time. The only thing I did was change the font to a larger size, a few minutes before i last saved it. Could it be that it then became such a large document that text edit can't open it or is there something else I might have accidently done.

How do I fix this problem? Please can someone help me in simple language thankyou so much

Your best bet is to download Tex-Edit Plus, one of the best text editors out there. Similar name (which predates OS X), but it's an entirely different program. It opens just about anything.

Drag the file onto the Tex-Edit icon and it should open.
