On Windows I liked Notepad++. Right now, for Mac, I am using Aquamacs, but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions for good text editors for Mac OS X?

Although, I use Eclipse and Xcode for some programmings stuff, sometimes it is nice to have just a basic text editor to do small edits.

If I end up getting Parallels I might just try running Notepad++ with the coherence mode, but it would be nice to run something native.

Thanks for any advice!

You can try TextWrangler
It is free

Wow thanks for the quick answers. I'll be sure to check both of those out when I get a chance.

I use TextWrangler a lot, too. I also like Tex-Edit (not the apple editor). It has fantastic AppleScript support, so if you have any scripting needs, it's definitely the best, IMHO.

Last time I used Smultron I thought it was terrible. Multiple crashes, inconsistent syntax highlighting, etc.

Besides the aforementioned TextWrangler (and its big brother, BBEdit), Textmate is worth paying for. It loads faster than BBEdit or TextWrangler, and imo has a cleaner, more spartan interface.
