Ok guys, here is a hard one

I'm looking for an app that's like a text editor that lets me handle text and edit it and add images and then at the end export it to a .png file. Also the text or image editor should let me to change the dimensions of the file (the "physical" size)

Or any image editor that lets me re-edit the text entered

any ideas?
thanks in advance!!

If you don't need more than what displays on your screen, you could just create what you want in TextEdit and do a screen capture with command-shift-3 or 4.

You are going in a lot of different and contradictory directions:
  • Text editors generate ASCII, EBCDIC, or Unicode text.
  • PNG is a graphics format, not a text format.
  • PNG is a raster graphics format, not vector graphics which would allow individual objects including text of the image to be edited.
You need a vector graphics editor to create and save your master graphics file. After your work is complete, then you may convert a copy into PNG. Editing the PNG version will be a bear, but you can easily edit the master vector graphics file. The vector graphics editor is Adobe Illustrator CS4. There are, however, some inexpensive vector graphics apps that will serve you well.

@MisterMe: Inkscape is good and free (not to mention open-source) but it is quite buggy still. Hasn't even reached 0.5 yet.

I'm aware of Inkscape. However, I must disagree with you. The app cannot be both good and quite buggy.

However, this Canvas user is heartbroken over what has happened to his favorite vector/raster graphics app. If the Inkscape development team keeps up the good work, then I may switch before it turns 1.0.

thanks guys

I understand the concepts, it is just that what I need is quite different

I just want a photo editor that has a text box that does not convert into image right when you click on any other stuff, I want that text to remain editable in a image editor

and at the end export all as .png file

thanks in advance

Okay, so you can use any document program like TextEdit (Leopard or newer) or Pages, MS Word etc etc etc to make said document. It will retain it's 'editability' for later when you save it.

The trick here is to go to print, and at the bottom left click 'Preview'. This will generate a PDF in Preview to edit. In there, go to 'Save As...' then select the file type to be 'PNG'. It will give you the option to change your DPI.
