text message custom ringtone

okay so I made my own ringtones with itunes and put them on my iphone 3g and I can set them for incoming calls but not for a new text message anyone know how I can do this?

you are correct, you can't do that (unless you possibly jailbreak)... SMS and emails only get a few sound choices.

It is not possible in either of the betas.

so i followed the iclarified on how to jailbreak but at the end when I am suppose to connect to itunes and restore to the jailbroke firmware a message comes up saying error try disconnecting and reconnecting so I do and nothing happens my iphone wont even show up in itunes I have to turn the phone on and connect it and restore it to factory.

Ok I successfully JB my iphone but I still cant set a custom ringtone for my text messages what do I do now that its JB to set them?
