Text message forwarding/continuity

Tried to search the forums but haven't found an answer, if I delete a message from my iPad or iPhone it isn't deleted on the other device. Is this how it is supposed to be?

Im not 100% sure, but I think so. The impression I get is that messages and calls are 'pushed' to your other devices, and not synced. So if you delete messages from one device, they wont necessarily be deleted on the others.

That's a shame as its annoying having to manage on both devices
