Where I am
Has anyone noticed that when receiving Text/iMessages back to back, often there is no sound or vibrate notification?

This seems to only have just started last week for me.

A few weeks ago, I changed the vibrate option for Text messages. This was due to the UAG case I was using. One could hardly tell when it vibrated. I was thinking the vibrate type was causing my notification issue. I have since changed the vibrate back to default. Alas, text message notifications still seem to trigger every OTHER message.

...thus far, with my Apple Watch 4 off, notifications seem to be working as expected.
It will be interesting, when I turn my watch back on.

It will probably go back to the way it was.

Your Watch or your iPhone will alert you to new notifications when they are turned on for the Watch. If your iPhone is asleep your watch will alert you, if your Watch isn't on you your iPhone will alert you. If you are viewing the notification on your Watch (or other device) your won't receive an alert anywhere since you are viewing it.

This is to prevent the system from being overwhelming annoying. Imagine a group text that is blowing up. You are reading the messages on one device but your other device(s) are BING BING BING BING BING. Or you are out for a run and your iPhone is at home while you are ignoring messages meanwhile someone at home is hearing BING BING BING BING from your phone. In a meeting....you get the point.

Here is some more info from Apple...
