Text message retrieval

I think I already know the answer to this, but......

I had to replace my iPhone because of a bad battery. My last Sync was I assume 4/30 because that's when the last texts were from. Is there ANY way to get the text messages from 4/30 to the time my phone died on 5/9? I should of done a back up but I wasn't thinking my phone would get replaced.

Unless you were also backing up to iCloud, then there's nowhere else those messages would be saved.

UGH....I don't know why I didn't back up when I saw the battery slowly dying
