text msg notifications hit and miss

had this issue since os3 have even set watch up as new. Basically my watch will just stop showing text msg notifications. Everything else email etc will still come through. If I turn watch off and phone off they will come through again but only for a few hours then back to not notifying on watch.
The phone isn't in use so not sure what's causing it
