iPhone 14 Pro Text notifications not loud at all

Barely hearing my text notifications even with volume at max. Like literally 15' - 20' away and it's barely audible. Family member has same issue with iPhone 13 Pro Max.. Can't be coincidence


Is it me, my hearing, or is it something else?

When the tone is playing turn up the volume, see if that makes any difference. Other than that, you haven’t given us much to go on.

Try going under Settings, Sounds, and Haptics. Then push the volume slider to the right.

Are there volume settings that I haven't seen?

@russell_314 it's been at max since i got the phone

I also don't use buttons to change volume but apparently that option still functions even being disabled

If the slider in the attached screenshot is at max it should be playing fairly loud.

What tone do you have selected as your "Text Tone"? Have you tried changing to a different tone, it is located in the section just below the Ringtone & Alerts section of Sounds & Haptics that @russell_314 referenced.

Also do you have a case that may be partially blocking the speaker at the bottom of the iPhone?

Note: Different Tones have different volume ranges and you can test to find a louder selection.

Changing the tone used may certainly help. There are some loud ones on there.

Also consider getting an Apple Watch. That moves the notifications from the phone 15-20 feet away, onto your wrist. You can SEE the message to boot, saving you the 15-20 foot trip to check the phone.
