Text reminder alert

I have the reminder alerts for texts on my 4S set to never, but it keeps reminding me once. Am I missing something?

So you're getting a notification when someone initially texts you, right? That's how it's supposed to work. You just won't receive any reminder alerts after the initial notification.

I get the first alert when it comes in then I get 1 additional alert for the same text.

you can set from zero to multiple reminders, but you will always get the FIRST alert, this that isn't technically a reminder.

I want the first. I have "never" set beyond that but I still get the 2nd alert for it.


I want everything after the 1st alert to stop!

Try re-applying the setting then do a hard reset of your iPhone. I've noticed that some settings won't take ever since iOS 3, which is when I got my first iPhone. My brother, who has had an iPhone since the launch of the first, has described this same issue to me as well.

notification center

go to notification center, go to messages, scroll down to repeat alert, change it from ONE to NEVER
