Text shortcuts - what to do, if they are not working in some cases on my mac?

Hi,
so I love using text replacement shortcuts on my mac and throughout my apple ecosystem (especially handy on iphone/ipad).
But for some weird reason, they just SOMETIMES work on my mac, and sometimes they don't. Even though they are all there in system preferences.

Does anyone know what to do?
