I've never compared this in person, but I'm wondering if the font size on the plus version of an iPhone is larger than that on the regular one (hence making text easier to read), or do they have the same font and it's just a matter of seeing more text on the plus?

I would assume they are both the same with the exception that the 7 Plus is 5.5" and the 7 is 4.7". iOS does have a text size option in the display settings. When both are set to the lowest, i would assume they are the same size. Same goes if the text sizes are both set to max

Actually the text size is adjustable in settings so it may larger, smaller, or the same.

Settings > General > Accessibility > Larger Text (Which brings up not only a selector switch, but also a slider which gives you fine control of the text size.

The next selection down gives you the option of having Bold text.

You would have to ensure that these options are all set the same on both units to properly answer your question.
