Hey,
what is the best text to speech reader?

I really only need PDFs read.

I've been using adobe acrobat professional 8

but the voice is pretty awful.

I have no disabilities and enjoy being able to select the paragraph I want read in adobe read out loud.

Main question: what are the best text to speech readers for mac?

Also, other questions:
Does the dragon naturally speaking work for macs?
Does dragon naturally speaking read text out-loud? (I know its main function is voice to text). I was just wondering if it did the opposite. It would be cool if it learned your voice and then started applying your voice to text - but that is probably far off in the future)

Text-to-speech has been part of the Mac OS itself for quite some time now. You can highlight a paragraph of text from any app then go to the services menu to make it start speaking...

i.e. from the menu bar... Safari > Services > Speech > Start Speaking Text

If you have Leopard installed, then the new voice Alex is by far the most natural sounding voice, and you can also increase or decrease the speed without changing the pitch, which is really quite useful.

that does not seem to work with adobe acrobat professional 8.

I dislike preview so much with pdfs.

what other software will read adobe professional 8 pdfs?

the mac voice built in program doesn't seem to work on adobe, can anyone else confirm this?
