I have many files saved as txt. in Chinese on my PC and after switching to Mac I thought it shouldn't be a problem opening my Chinese txt. files. But when I opened it it just comes up as a bunch of weird characters. I have tried going to Preferences in TextEdit and change the encoding to Chinese, but it doesn't work. I don't know if it's something I'm doing wrong or what...:( Does anyone else have this problem?
I need some help please.:(

While I'm not sure if this will work, you can try to copy the text from your .txt files into Word/Pages, then when you are in Word/Pages select the text and choose a Chinese font - maybe the messed up letters will change into Chinese characters. Not sure though.

Try opening the files from the Open dialog box (Cmd-O) and select the chinese text encoding there. Remember there are a couple of different ones so try them all.
