I have a short .txt file created by another person. It is a .html file with a renamed extension. However, it does NOT open using TextEdit, rather I get a blank window with the filename in the titlebar.

---- Update

Nevermind, you have to change TextEdit preferences to "Ignore rich text commands in HTML files". I thought this was the default behavior of a text editor anyway... but I guess the OSX text editor tries to do a little more than it should... this option tames it :)
