That's amazing that there's two features in the Windows WordPad competitor that Apple's own premiere word processing app doesn't have... support for read/WRITE ODF and Word XML, and autosave. This seems kind of ridiculous to me that they wouldn't have these features in the just-released Pages.
Apple: ODF is an ISO standard format that guarantees that it is probable to be read in 10, 20, or 50 years, not to mention excellent cross platform support, fully documented (so no need to have the option to save in Pages '06, '05, and so on), and open. Please make this a first class goal in iWork '09, not just for word processing, but Keynote and Numbers as well.
Since it's also XML-based, shouldn't it be doable for Apple?
