I'll be in New Zealand in less than a week and I plan on bringing my iphone and disabling 3G (essentially running it in airplane mode). I downloaded textfree a few weeks ago and set it up with a local phone number here in DC (it's a 703 number).

So just using Wi-Fi and textfree, could I text people in the US from New Zealand?

Some things I've read say you can't, textfree support makes it sound like you can.

I also guess that it would not charge the person receiving my text or sending one to my textfree number anything more than a normal text message, but not completely sure on that either.
