I was trying out the MagSafe charger on my new iPhone 16 Pro Max and it was not working too well very touchy charging stopped for no apparent reason. I checked here and learned how to check its firmware. It was not up to date but as I watched it updated. It was still very touchy. I had a brand new one in the cable stash, so I pulled it out. That fixed it. Learning how to check the firmware was the key.
Here is what the old MagSafe puck reported.
Here is what the New one reported.
Don't know what happened to the used one both were purchased at the same time from the Apple Store. All old one it ever used for was recharging my AirPod Pro 2's. But as I said above, without MacRumors, I would not have known about checking up on the MagSafes firmware.
