Thanks for the help on this forum. I was able to jailbreak and unlock my iPhone 3g. I am now up and running with T-Mobile on my iPhone. I dreaded trying it but it was not nearly as time consuming or difficult as I thought it would be. The iClarified site is by far the best for this.

I do have some questions now. Can I still allow my phone to sync with iTunes? What will it do the first time? I do not want to mess anything up. Can I get apps from someplace else? Can T-Mobile tell that I am using a different phone?

Yes, you can still sync the iPhone normally. Now, you must refrain from updating/restoring when iTunes prompts you. For apps, you now have access to hundreds if not more in Cydia.
