That was fast! Tried the 250mb plan...ran out w/26 days to go!

Well, just upgraded to the Unlimited Plan...I checked my iPhone usage when I got my 3G on Friday, I was only using about 150mb a month.

So I figured 250mb should be more than enough...signed up on Sunday...just got the "You have 20% left with 26 days to go. Would you like to add more data?

Heck yeah, I would!!! :D
 
That's good to know. It could be a good indication for anyone curious about what plan to get. What did you do in the time you had it?
 
I do not have the 3G but I assume watching a ep of lost from the abc app would take a big hit on the bandwidth.

Nothing unusual...net, e-mail, weather apps, downloaded two books. The "big" stuff I save for wifi (purchasing apps, iTunes downloads, etc)....
 
so what happens if you run out....do they charge you a premium or do they just cut everything off?
 
That's where AT&T makes their money, what do you expect? Wifi only for me please.

They notify you on the iPad and via email when you have 20%, 10%, and 0% left...then you can buy another 250mb or switch to the Unlimited plan right on the iPad. It's actually pretty slick!!!

And they just charge you what the plan costs...no hidden fees or charges...nice!
 
Yes I am on 348 mb already. And I always use wifi at home. I haven't watched any video or downloaded video on 3G. I have downloaded apps on 3G.
 
I just checked and since last Friday evening when I activated I have used 2.4 GB. On my iPhone 3G I average between 15-20GB per month and I think this will continue on the iPad.

I love this unlimited stuff. I was paying $60 per month for 1 GB of data for my laptop. This is much much better.

Maybe not the best time to do a test of the 250MB limit with a new "toy". LOL Had some fun with the GPS and Google Maps, and contributed a speed test of the 3G using SpeedtestX HD. :eek:

Will say that I am surprised at just how much data is used in downloads for news apps and some websites. As frugal as I want to be with what I consider to be the nickel and dime thing of $15 vs $30 on the iPad - and added costs when I switch to the new iPhone due in June over my iPhone 1G - I have to say that I am seeing the $30 plan as a relative bargain. Yet $15 here, $5 there - adds up in the end.
 
Do they charge you an additional $30 to the $15 you already spent for 250mb or are you only charged $30?
 
I think some people forget that data usage is calculated for both uploads and downloads so it adds up quicker. Hence why orange uk's 750mb unlimited iPhone tarrif is god awful and I'll stick with o2
