right?

Better quality components so even if it has its drawbacks with specs and screen brightness it's a better long-term investment?

Whatever makes you feel better about sticking with your 16 Pro?
I have a android but considering getting one off swappa for around 700 with 256gb.

Just weighing the pros and cons of it.

There is simply not that much difference between the 16 Pro & 17 Pro components other than the body. Why do you think a 16 Pro has a better build quality?

If you are asking about 16 Pro versus base iPhone 17, I would say this year is very different, Apple knocked it out the park with the base 17, so it is really up to what you see as priority, the 17 has the newer more efficient A19 chip + bigger battery than 16 Pro.

Are the 16 Pro cameras a big deal to you?
If not then I would say go straight to 17.

They should both age well.

Depends if you use protection.

I have a 10 year old iPhone 6S which looks like it’s just been unboxed for the first time.

I have an immaculate OGSE and 8 also. I’ve been using the 8, as a secondary device, for over the last year and it was my daily driver for 2.5 years also.

All that matters is that you take care of your device.

Exactly. Plenty of people here used aluminium iPhones for many years, don’t know why they act brand new with the 17s 😂
Cases were less popular back then too, it was quite common to see a 6, 6s, 7, 7 Plus, 8 and 8 Plus used naked.

Yeah but what if I get caught in a tornado of industrial hardware then fall off a 25 foot ladder 8 times in a row? That happens to be several times a week.

You know what? I didn’t think of this highly likely scenario. 😂
You got me!
