Because of the differences I noticed with the Intel modem in the 10 vs the Qualcomm model I have now, I don’t have the best view with Intel. Hopefully they’ve made improvements for this year’s modem.

I was looking into the next iPhones to see what type of cellular improvements we could expect seeing as the intel Modem in the iPhone X was while adequate not exactly class leading. Luckily the next modem “Intel XMM 7560” is going to offer a wide array of the latest cellular tech such as 5x carrier aggregation and support of 35 bands amongst some other improvements as well.

you really shouldn't post false or misleading headlines
that article says more than 35 bands supported which is what we've known fo ra while now but it doesn't say which bands let alone that 71 will be supported.

It’s quite possible since it does state it support up to 35 bands and there are 24 bands supported in the latest iPhone last year which 11 more bands added.

I get it. But then if it's minimal at best, why do it at all?

OCD. You should read about the doors and door handles at Apple park.

All those speed tests against the s9 or note 9 are using the Qualcomm x20, it’s a 2018 modem.

Apples 2018 iPhone will be launched in 2 weeks, those should be using the xmm7560 which is comparable to the x20.

yeah I get that, but the question remains, why throttle at all then?

If Apple doesn't add band 71 support, it will be an epic fail for anyone on T-Mobile.
