*Holds up flame shield. Coming from a 2015 MBP, then to a MBP 2017, and now to a 2018 MBP. I absolutely love this keyboard. It feels really good to type on and I can type really quickly on it as well. Good job with the keyboard this year Apple! Is anyone else a huge fan of the keyboard this year?

I'm coming from the MBP 2014 and was really afraid due to all the stories I read everywhere but... I love it! It feels like it makes me type a lot faster and while I am making some errors that I don't usually make, that's just me getting used to it. I have never tried the 2016 and 2017 versions, but I really like this one.

I love my 2017 keyboard. I had a 2016 and returned it since it died on me a month after I bought it (didn't want to deal with any extra problems b/c of aforementioned problems). I can tell the difference between the 2016 & 2017. I love the short travel - I type faster on this and I don't have to press too hard. I don't think there is much of a difference than 2018 version but I haven't tried it out yet.

I agree. I also love typing on these butterfly keyboards. Right up to the moment they start failing.

And after 4 failed topcase replacements I guess I'm ready for Apple to either adopt a virtual with a good haptic feedback or fall back to previous design. This simply isn't working. And I also don't believe a sheet of silicone will fix reliability issues long term. It's just a quick band aid.

Since the announcement of the 2018 notebooks and my temptation to upgrade, I have tried extensively my old 2011 15" and my 2017 keyboard on the 2016 MBP. Whenever I come back to the new notebook, I feel a firmer typing experience that immediately delights and then falls to neutral. Now, same goes for the old! :p But with the old, I am now hitting between keys as well, so clearly the larger keys in the new keyboard make for a better typing experience with lesser errors.

That said, I can see the logic in the 2018 membrane being more tactile and bouncing back faster, and I think that this might make for a more accurate typing experience for the issues I have with this keyboard (sometimes) that the keys feel like they did not spring back, creating a doubt if they got pressed, or actually creating an error.

The new notebooks are not out in the stores at my place, waiting to see. However, again, just for this, spending $1800 is practically a blasphemy and sort of pure criminal.
