Why has this been added?
What does this add to the Apple Pay experience?

Unless I'm missing something, I just don't see what it adds.
 
It adds the ability to access your rewards cards from the lock screen. In the past, we only had access to the payment cards. Wallet should be an update that will allow more rewards type cards within the wallet.

In the past, we could double click and hold for Apple Pay to read our print and be ready for the NFC reader, this part is not new. New is the view of all cards.

Apparently Transport for London asked them to add it so you can scan your fingerprint before you get to the ticket barrier (avoids queues building up)!
