iPhone! ... it's the first time in a very long time that all sites have been down at the same time, lately they just closed the US one, and the updates were later pushed to the rest of the world.

True, but I'd still be surprised that the hardware would be a silent update. The exception to that, of course, is if they were simply releasing a 32gb phone. However, they will probably be a bit louder on the 3G phone, since numerous people are waiting for it.

I figure it'll be for the speed-bump iMac update. Penryn and larger HDD. Doubt if anything else will be offered, but who knows? After all, this is why we all tune in for it!
