If it's your mother's plan, she will need to be there in person.

You can try asking your mom to add you as an authorized user for retail store.

AT&T Plans

In a situation somewhat similar to original post, I'm a college student on my mother's plan (I'm the primary line) but I am also registered with AT&T as an authorized account person (or whatever) that lets me make changes to the account, including buy phones and renew contracts / alter plans. Will Apple honor this setup the way AT&T does? I have already pre-done the eligibility part on Apple's website, and it would strike me as odd that I could order a new phone to be shipped to me with less information than the may require in store. I'm looking at calling Apple tomorrow, but does anyone have any experience with this type of situation?

On a somewhat different note, my nearest Apple store is in a mall 150 miles away. Mall security allows lines to begin forming at 5:00am...I'm looking to get there between 5:45-6am. Anyone know / think this will be early enough? (I don't have a reservation)

Thanks!

If you don't have a reservation, you'll need to be there at least by midnight. There's no way you'll get one if you get there at 6.

We were unable to complete set up online.

To finish creating your account, visit an Apple Retail Store starting on June 24.

WRONG! As long as you are an authorized user on the account and over 18, there won't be a problem. It's been covered on this site on numerous threads.

You also need a government issued ID and the last 4 digits of the primary account holders social.

Have mommy call AT&T.

No, it's not that easy. You need to visit the AT&T headquarters. Hopefully you can make an appointment. Once there, you will need to complete three tasks. After completing those tasks, mommy needs to burp you and read you a bed time story. Once the AT&T representative is convinced that you are indeed mother and son, you can be an authorized user after a 90 day waiting period. Of course all you do is call. It takes 2 minutes. :D
