While the 18-karat gold Apple Watch Edition has been receiving a lot of attention due to its premium pricing and aesthetic, Apple will sell far more of the lower-priced Apple Watch and Apple Watch Sport models, and has created a different customer journey for those customers, according to sources briefed on the plans. Most of the sales process will be familiar to buyers of other products from the Apple Store, but a number of steps are different, including the process of visiting a “magical” display case, trying on different models, playing with demo units, and actually finalizing the purchase. Can we still pre order online for UPS/Fedex delivery and have a try on appointment to make sure we made the right choice?

Probably you can. But I don't think it was intended like this. So I would not tell them right away that you already ordered your watch.

It's absolutely OK to do this. It's the entire point. Get the fit right in-store then pre-order however you like. I guess it's to help people make the right choice instead of ordering one, receiving it and realising the size is wrong and they'd prefer a different one.

I was originally planning on camping out, but since you won't be able to for the :apple: Watch because of no in-store stock on launch day, I will be pre-ordering on the 10th. I want to go in during another day that week and try on the Watch though, so hopefully they'll let me do that.

So the try on units will be running a demo loop, will the unit on display with the iPad mini be on demo loop as well, seems on the iPad it lets you at least customize watch faces.

No, you didn't understand me. He wanted to preorder BEFORE going to the Apple Store try-on.
