The Apple Watch will work offline

During his interview with Charlie Rose, Tim Cook said you can take your Apple Watch and for example go for a run without having your iPhone with you. He said that people will be able to listen to music via a bluetooth headphone.
I guess there will be more stuff that work offline, something that is very much needed.
I look forward to the Apple Watch next year.

one thing that won't work is gps which the watch doesn't have and needs the phone for.

I guess anything that needs a radio will not work. That's expected and I am fine with it. I think there are many technical issue with having such capabilities in a watch.
