I already bought my new mbp from apple, and happy with my choice -even though i don't have the hi res screen.

However, i was at best buy berating the staff for selling the old macbook pro's, when we got into a discussion about warranties. Applecare doesn't cover accidents and they do. I also know that micro center has there own coverage as well, which at least historically covered accidental damage.

In light of another post on here from someone who will be out a lot of money because they spilled something on there new machine, wouldn't buying your laptop at Micro Center or Best Buy be a better deal if your are going to pay extra for a care or insurance plan? For those of you who have had to use accidental coverage from a company on a mac what has been your experience?

I will buy apple care, but i hope the responses will help someone else make a more informed decision on their purchase.

Not sure what their price is, but I've always kept things that could damage electronics away from them. That is my own prerogative I guess.

Use MRoogle and research the experiences people have had with AppleCare on this forum. Then use Google and research the experience people have had with Best Buy's warranty.

With AppleCare, if your computer has a problem, it will be fixed and you'll have a great experience. With Best Buy, if your computer has a problem, or you spill something on it, either way it will be an ordeal and you'll feel like you're having your teeth pulled in order to get a replacement or fix.

I have applecare on my mac, and its amazing. The only downside is no accidental damage. However, the turn around time in getting something fixed is days.
From what i've heard of best buy, they have slow turnaruond times, and will try to get out of accidenatal damage whenever possible.
I have a microcenter warrenty on a refurbished xbox 360 i bought 2 years ago. The warrenty is cheap, and they have replaced the xbox that got the rrod 4 times. I've very happy with them. I don't know if they have adp
