My wife just picked up a new 3GS yesterday (I know the 5 is just around the corner, but it's still better than my 3G!) and it's running 4.3.3. Of course iTunes says software updates are available, but I'm hesitant to upgrade knowing that I could possibly make things worse. So, my question is this: which iOS is the best for the 3GS? How high should I go? Also, when does Aurplay show up? I don't seem to see it in 4.3.3.

If you're not worried about unlocking or jailbreaking just continue updating it.

iOS 4.3.4 fixes a pdf exploit and iOS 4.3.5 fixes some bugs.

I have two 3Gs that are running on 4.3.3 and they run without lag! I wouldn't be too worried about updating though, as they are not major updates and won't make your phone run any worse.

I'd just stay away from iOS 5 until other people have reviewed it first. :D

I'll definitely steer clear of iOS 5 at first. I'm just glad they are supporting it. Hopefully it works though!

Also, am I correct in hearing that the AirPlay function only shows up when you have a compatible device? No A TV for me yet - hoping v3 is a bit more robust.

Thanks for the advice!
