I am looking at getting two TV replacement, one tube for my stepdad and one LCD for myself.

I heard that for LCD that Samsung is the best... can anyone back this up?

And for tube TV's that Sony is the best...???

I myself have a new Bravia LCD 42".

To sum it up, I wish this country had HD satellite TV, and affordable HD DVD players. In a few years, the picture will look outstanding. Until then, you just have to sit a little back from the screen. Plug in the MB Pro and she's veeery nice though.

Maybe a PS3 is on the cards...

Congratz. XBR2? XBR3? Top-notch picture quality and specs on these. I've been eying one for myself for quite a while but I didn't jump on it yet because of the clouding issues horror stories. Is your set "cloud" free?

Yes, their 30" and 34" XBR tubes will have any other set for breakfast.

My family has the 30" HD Tube, but the non XBR and I am continually impressed when watching HD Channels or DVD's. The only thing I did was calibrate it with DVE when we first got it. I should do that again.

A good rule of thumb for Sony tubes that you can expect them to last until you don't need them anymore.
