The best Mac for voice-overs

Hi everyone,

I'm new to Macs because because my computer is a Sun workstation running Unix. I mention my computer because I'm hoping that OS X will be much like it. I'm perfectly at home on a command line. But no, I won't always be using one on a Mac.

I need a Mac to do voice-overs. Unfortunately, I can't afford a Mac Pro, which seems ideal for running Logic Studio. What other Mac would you experts suggest for audio production?

i have done voice overs on imacs, mac pros and mbp.. macbooks should be good too.


the real question is whats the best low cost microphone to buy when using with a mac?
