IPhone 5 is coming and this is the perfect time to get a 4S a little cheaper. However, I am going to spend a little on the accessories as, especially if its used, I like to dress the phone up in order to individualize it -- and of course protect it. I've had enough of my previous phone and its Otterbox-case: I almost always keep my phone inside the pocket of my jeans and, with phones getting bigger and bigger, I don't want to bulk it up. Therefore I'm looking for a skin+bumper -combo: the skins would prevent scratching and the bumper would protect at least a little bit from the knocks etc.
I'm interested in iCarbons-skins as I think they look amazing and I'm told they are one of the best -- I'm thinking about choosing matching iCarbons-skins for my future iPad. One combination I've thought about is using a back-only black carbon fiber skin for a white iPhone (and a white iPad) as I think full body black carbon fiber is too dark (and a bit tacky) and full body white carbon fiber is too bright. I've also thought about back-only red carbon fiber on a black iPhone, but while it would be a tribute of sorts to a certain Air Jordan, I think it's probably a bit too retro.
But what about the bumper? I'm told that the Apple-version can scratch the iPhone and that many bumbers in general can have compatibility issues with skins: they can lift the edge of the skin where they meet. Obviously the most popular bumber seems to be the SPG Neo Hybrid Ex. Is that compatible with (iCarbons) skins?
I would like to hear your suggestion for good combos for me (I like dark wood, whites, blacks, greens as well as smoke and carbon and I'd like the iPhone to look sleek and cool without being too business/formal/elegant). I have thought about a green bumper but I think it would make the iPhone look a bit like a toy or a piece of plastic.
Please advice!
