The Better Choice for Webserver?

Hi All,

I need guide about installing Web server on Leopard.
Like we all know, Mac OS X (Leopard) was built in web server Apache, and I know there are 3rd party application too, such as MAMP or XAMPP.

And I still confused which one better, activated built in web server or use 3rd Party Application?

Please share you knowledge here, and the reason behind your choice.

What are you going to use it for?

To Play around with PHP & MySQL sometimes run CGI or maybe Ruby On Rails.
On the serrver I will little bit use image library (GD, Image Magick) , and of course activated apache mod rewrite.

Please give me advice which one better and why?
