iPod The bizarre case of the dissappearing song files

I had something weird happen when I plugged in my iPod the other day. iTunes gave a message saying that certain song files could not be found. I clicked to play them and it gave me the option to manually locate them an lo and behold, they were nowhere to be found on my computer. I have no idea where it went. The song has ben listened to many times and was on my iPod before I auto-updated.

Same here, I would have whole albums go missing, even purchased songs. And more strange, is the fact that I keep my songs organized properly and do not mingle within those folders
