I have been enjoying my trouble-free 3G up until this weekend. Then the bugs caught up with me.

We went out of town Saturday morning. During the drive up I-5 near Williams, CA, I tried to check my email. I couldn't get a data connection even with full bars on EDGE. I switched over to 3G and had "No Service," which is odd since there was plenty of EDGE service available for fallback. It wouldn't switch, though. Whatever, I could check my email again later. I disabled 3G as that's how I usually roll.

The rest of the weekend was filled with apps crashing and the phone becoming completely unresponsive. I had to do the two-button mash to reset it. I was able to make a few calls today, but apps wouldn't run. Also, App Store told me I had a batch of updates available, but each of them failed during the update via my in-laws' wifi.

This evening when I got home, I plugged it into iTunes to do a restore. After chugging away for nearly an hour, it told me "An iPhone has been previously synced with this computer." I tried three times and got the same screen each time. Some Googling tells me my next step is to set it up as a new iPhone, which I'm doing now.

The Googling has also shown me this isn't an uncommon problem, so I'm hoping Apple is so aware of it that they'll give us a fix soon. This is the sort of BS that made me ditch my WinMo phones.
