Simple design

Side protection + Face & Back Protection

I'd still add an overlay, front and back for added protection though.

Looks to me like an idea which they weren't sure would catch on. If they knew people wanted colored iPhones they'd just make colored iPhones not stupid case rubbish.

But if they sell well, i'm sure we'll be seeing colored iPhones in the future.

Only Apple could sell a case with no front of back, call it a Bumper and charge 30 bucks. :D

They're not the first.

expensive, but I want yellow one for te phone sucks they dont have one ((

I think the bumpers look pretty cool. I use the Seidio spring clip holster and clear-coat skin, screen and back protection with my 3GS. I don't plan on using a skin with the iPhone 4 since it uses a stainless steel frame and specially engineered glass front and back.

I think they're trying to buck the trend of a full on case. Maybe because they want the glass exposed as much as possible for reception. Or maybe they're just cashing in. Maybe they're trying to satisfy the crowd who want colour options.. who knows. I don't fully buy that it was just to stop the edges getting scratched - people already use cases popularly..

I was kinda hoping for an Apple case like the one the iPad got. Very nice material. It will be nice to stick a film over the front and back and actually see the phone for once though..

The antenna being covered in rubber won't hurt the reception. The design is because apple is actually proud of the back of the phone now, and to be fair, I'm really taken by the look of this one. So much nicer than the 3G/3GS.

Could get a screen protector just for the back maybe...

cant wait til they make cheap knockoffs sold on ebay, that work just as good for 5 bucks...

I'm just hoping the bumper adds a little height (lip, idk?) so the back/front of the phone so it isn't laying directly down on the desk, table, etc. The front of the incase slider comes to mind, though that case sucks goat b***s.

I also +1 for a Clear Version that also adds an attached/flip to the side plug for the Dock and Microphone ports to help keep out pocket lint/dirt. I believe that this would be all of the shock absorbing protection needed on the new iPhone.

The thickness and extended edges would keep the glass off of surfaces and absorb short drops that land on the edge. Great idea and think it will be pretty popular.

I think they were referring to the "lay-on-the-table" design the bumper has.

I've been naked on my screen with the 3gs but still have a case to protect the back. I can't stand looking at my back and seeing tiny little scratches. I would love the bumper if it makes the iPhone just slightly higher so the surfaces are rubbing on what they are resting on.

$30 is cheaper than other case offerings. I'm spending $500 on a phone, $30 is nothing. I'll probably try a few colors, depending on availability.

A leather surround would be very cool. Maybe with some kind of embossing, or metal work added into it.
