I've been looking for a single thread that lists every new (known) feature of the new 3.0 OS but haven't found one. I couldn't find one so I decided to start this list. Here's what I've got so far:

(1-26 is from the Apple's 3.0 Keynote presentation)

1 Notes sync
2 Audio/video tags
3 Live streaming
4 Shake to shuffle
5 Proxy support
6 Wi-Fi auto login

11 Anti-phishing
12 YouTube ratings
13 Create meeting invitations
14 Auto-fill
15 Call log

34 Mail multiple photos
35 Shake-to-shuffle
36 Expanded stocks app
37 Calendar support
38 Tethering (maybe)
39 Video Recording (maybe, but only speculation at this point)

Help me out here people.....over 100 new features and I'm stuck at naming less than half of them.

What else am I missing????

- SMS forwarding, deletion, preview on/off, alert on/off
- Ability to change ringtones straight from Favorites (finally!)
- Custom backgrounds (?)
- Dock with stacks (?)
- App Store screenshot previewing
- Stopwatch minor tweak
- Few polished icons
- Turn-by-turn navigation (?)
- Search in Mail and iPod
- Encrypted backups
- Find My iPhone
- More options for double-clicking Home Button

- Landscape view in Safari now gives a semi-transparent menu bar.
- Ability to open link in new tab/page.

Right, that's a given...I'm trying to list as many features as possible in one convenient thread. Certainly there has to be more than 39.

well that's not smart... we don't need another speculation thread ( isn't that what you were complaining)

I think making a thread with ACTUAL working features will be more benefitial

for instance i have yet to see video recording in 3.0, so its pure speculation, so what's the point of having it on the list

Based on the list above, still no way of aborting an SMS/MMS while being sent?

there's too many threads for 3.0 that I don't know where to start asking this

Keyboard letters are now indented into the keys. Before it was just black letters and now they're inset slightly. (Look closely, you can see a slight highlight under the letters indicating that they are indented). It's easier to see if you press a key and hold it to look at the bigger version of it.

Also, on the iPod touch... the videos icon is different in Settings.app.

Swiping in notes will bring up a delete button. In all other firmwares, you couldn't do this in notes.

Also, when listening to a podcast, tapping the album art will bring up more options (in the area where the genius button normally is). You can tap a button to jump back 30 seconds, playback at 1/2x, 1x, or 2x speed. There is also a envelope button there which I'm assuming would email a link to the podcast or something, but it is currently untappable.

The scrubber is the progress / position bar that is shown as a video or song plays. So the iPhone has one now, but I believe at least one "new" feature is that the scrubbing speed can be variable. This is discussed in this news story:

https://www.macrumors.com/2009/04/17/iphone-3-0-beta-galleries-illustrate-new-features/

Alright, forgive my ignorance. This is the same thing that the touch has had, but it's new to the iPhone? Or is it simply the variable functions available that make this a "new" feature?

Are you saying the iPod touch has variable scrubbing now? The iPhone has scrubbing now, but it doesn't have the variability. I think the scrubbing is in fact exactly the same on the iPod and the iPhone right now. I'm not sure if that's the only change to the scrubbing or if there's something more sophisticated, but I think this feature is saying that both will get the variable rate scrubbing.

I know, meh. Whenever Apple touts the 250 or 300 or 400 new features on a firmware or OS upgrade or a new product, usually 95% are yawners. :p I don't think this one (the scrubber changes) is expected to be anything hugely exciting.
