Can I say it just tickles me to no end that pre-AI lenses work on the D40 series, but not on any other Nikon DSLR? I just recently came across a great condition pre-AI 50 mm 1.4 lens and bought it for $70. It works great, even though I have to guess on everything. That's what test shots are for, I think.
