There's this guy at work who's getting a lot of attention right now because he hasn't realized that iTunes is automatically sharing his Limewire's download folder. Some other guy clicked on his shared playlist only to find it was mostly pr0n and from a rather nasty variety . Anyway, to each his own, but I find it a bit weird he's doing that at work. What are your thoughts on office pr0n?

What this is at work? You can download limewire? WTF what job is this. Anyway thats kinda like creepy and embarrassing. Also take pictures of these people reaction to see their itunes library with porn.

Or what everyone else would

pics or it didnt happen

iTunes isn't doing the sharing. Limewire by default shares your Shared Folder (and any other folders available to download) on your network using Bonjour.

Better question, what kind of fraking company IT department even allows Limewire? Why isn't the computer locked down to the Nth Degree?

TEG

Are things more laid back in Mexico or something? Here, you would get fired faster than you can say Jenna Jameson.

Well it just happened a few minutes ago, I don't think his boss knows yet. Anyway, I don't feel like being a snitch, I think I'll just let someone else take care of that. It wasn't me who found out anyway, and I'm just a software engineer with no "administrative powers".

There was this rumor about some guys that were fired a few months ago. Supposedly they were downloading pr0n also, but I'm not sure that was the reason they got fired.

If the guy is nice, you should put some text file inside the folder explaining anonymously that his job is in jeopardy...
If he's not nice... did I mention blackmailing? :p

A very new software company in Mexico . They haven't got to that "network security" part yet. And yes I know, it's very embarrassing that a software company has such poor network policies. Hopefully it'll get better as the company matures.

Pr0n would only be the half of it

using Limewire or the like can SERIOUSLY compromise your network integrity and suck lots of bandwidth that can slow down other people doing productive work(such as replying to random threads on MR:D). Not to mention the other legal issues. So yeah, anyone doing that where I work would be out the door in minutes, if the police weren't called to escort them out.
