Hi,

With the release of watchOS 7, my series 1 finally is old enough so it can't be updated. If my Mac or iPhone ever gets old enough so that it can't be updated, I'll be upgrading immediately. I'm almost certain that I'll not be upgrading. I think I am an edge case user, I use my watch for Apple pay, as a music/podcast remote, to check iMessages to see if they need an immediate response, and of course as a time piece. I never got into the fitness/health aspect of the device.

Do I have any security concerns or something I am missing that should encourage me to upgrade?

Today? Probably not. But over the coming months and years? Yes.

I'd say at some point you should pick up an SE. I'd suggest a 3, but it's likely that will be updated for less time, so will cost you more in the long run. I too have an S1, and it's getting really slow. In addition, I can tell that the battery is getting worse, although slowly. My Series 6 should be here in a few weeks (I hesitated and didn't get in on the first batch). For me, the new features interest me, but also being in Information Security, I know that I want the latest and greatest firmware.
