The iPod is becoming less of a media player and more of a symbolic item. So what really is an iPod? What was Apple's original purpose of the iPod? Has their purpose of the iPod changed? Is design the only thing that separates the iPod from the boys? Does society define what an iPod will be in the future or did Apple have an agenda for this object?

The thing about the name "iPod" is that if the iPod became a PDA in 4 years or whatever, the name would still work. Just saying.

Apple originally came up with 'iPod' as a name for a public internet kiosk type thing, but that was never made. Only fairly late into the real iPod's development, when they were thinking of what to call their new MP3 player, they remembered they nver used the name 'iPod', and went with that.

So, then, the iPod is an internet Pod... whatever that is...

Pods? Invasion of the Body Snatchers? So, these pods end up containing our essence and become us, thus taking over the world.

Oh, my iPod has all my favorite videos, photos, and music - my essence? Oh no!!!!
