The Dock and Safari

I just noticed that Safari always shows up in my dock. I'll remove it from my dock but it'll somehow come back from the afterlife after i restart or log off. Is there some sort of hidden option I'm missing or something?

Edit: Forgot to mention that the icon just appears there. It's not the same as when the icon materializes in the dock when I've launched the program. It's there right after I log in or start up and it shouldn't be there because I removed it already!

try right-clicking the safari icon, see if "open at login" is checked off.

There are some problems sometimes where Dock changes don't get remembered on relaunch. Theoretically if you keep removing it OS X will remember some day.

Hmm so I take it that there is another way to remove it then? I'm assuming it would involve Terminal or something.. right?

Any pointers? Anybody have any other tips or comments?
