I'm running OS X 10.4.11. Whenever I try to copy a folder from a dmg file to my Desktop, it will stop with the following error:

I've looked all over the net, but all I can find is topics about external HDDs with this issue, and no solutions unfortunately, which is frustrating me quite a bit.

I've tried repairing the permissions and disk with Disk Utility to no avail. Please help. I'm new to Macs so try to simplify answers if possible please. Thanks!

What DMG file do you want to copy from?
Is it a downloaded one or did you create it yourself?
Does it also happen in another, even temporarily created, user account?

It's from my Sims 2 dmg. I ripped it from my old CD (which I no longer own unfortunately), so no on the created part. I'll create another account real quick and give that a run. I'll post back in a few minutes when I find out.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, no-go on that alternate account. :(

I read somewhere that this error is caused by .DS_Store files or something. One guide said to use the dot clean command to fix it, but unfortunately that is not available in OS X Tiger (knowing my luck of course).

Nothing? Darn. Looks like I'll need to do a little more searching.
