Anybody else feel the need for
Some front facing camera apps?
Ichatr got removed mainly due to the perverts showing themselves , its a real shame as i had some very funny moments on there

I wish the front facing camera was a little higher resolution - 1.3MP would be great. 640x480 is pretty weak.

any developers in the midst of creating an app using the front facing camera? preferably a video chat-like app?

Maybe they kept it weak for the possibility of using it over 3G, but I doubt it. Probably just kept it weak so they can add it to the list of upgrades in version 5.

The front-facing camera looks great when video recording, but taking a photo makes it too sharp and grainy.

By the way, why doesn't Apple implement a 'screen-flash'? Kind of how Photo Booth does it, so the entire screen illuminates white and acts as a flash when taking a photo.

Pretty much any app that uses the camera, can use the front facing cam. I can use the Front Facing came with Fatbooth. Line up the shot perfectly.

The technology probably isn't there to get that in the iPhone as thin as it is. Especially with another camera already near that spot.

So far there's 'Incredibooth' one of the best apps for front facing camera.
3 great effects. and it's like a theme park photo booth. it takes multiple pictures and puts it into a series of films.

(i heard there's also this app, that's exactly like Photobooth for mac, but i forgot where i read the article... either engadget or tipb.)

The effects are real time like on the mac.

Would Apple really approve any video chat apps for the iPhone? As much as it sucks, wouldn't they want to monopolize the video chatting?

wait a sec... I still have iChatr on my iphone... (i assume that you (OP) had it and it's now gone...)

what happened to yours?

A friend had it at work (shows how much we do) by the time my iphone arrived after 3 weeks they had removed it :/
