The reason why is all the gold haters noticed today that gold is in demand! They felt validation (they aren't confident enough to go with it unless other people do) and they pulled the trigger. Morons.

They have been making threads on here for the last two weeks asking questions like "What color should I get?"

Actually the "black" option is space gray and not black and slate like last year.
