Anyone here in the same boat? No wonder the reports of Apple dropping the iPhone 5 for iPhone 5S....scuffgate is a big shame for apple and yes Steve Jobs would've been more mad about it than antennagate :)

I have a black i5 that I've had since November, with only a screen protector. It's in almost brand new condition except for 3 or 4 small almost unnoticeable scratches on the "diamond cut" metal band. No idea what this scuffgate is lol

I have an iPhone 5 that has been scratched by the case it's been in. It's unacceptable on apple's end, but I'll just use Birchwood Casey to fix the scuffs.

I'm totally on this boat. I love the black iPhone but I kinda regret since I need to babysit it not to get more scuffs, specially that damned chamfered edge

Stop OCD'ing about your phone and start using it. Best decision of my life.

What? Each year Apple releases a new phone; it's not just because of the "scuffgate" problem.

I would imagine he / she means the reports that Apple will drop the 5 altogether and have the new 5C or whatever it'll be called alongside the 5S (hopefully with a better, more expensive and more appropriate anodization layer).

No one knows for sure if Apple is dropping the iphone 5 because of the scuffing issues. It would be a welcomed upgrade if it does, but there are absolutely no rumors to suggest this.

I can remember when everyone thought that a scuff was a factory defect!

:p

The black ano was a very poor choice for a finish!

it could be about many other reasons but the reports mention the iPhone 5 will be phased out completely.

Back of my iP5 is scratched to ****.

I have used and abused it for 3 years; I never use a case. I pay for premium electronics and I want to enjoy the design and premium materials not cover them in some cheap ****** plastic.

I love the way it looks, looks better with age.

Might have an issue selling, maybe.

Nope.

No idea how that happened. I downloaded tapatalk to see how it is last week maybe that was why....

My 5 certainly wasn't as durable as my 4S. I've kept it in a case and is still pretty scuffed up.

Actually, I don't mind the scuffs on my 5. They add character!

The scuffs only ever happened on the edge band, not the front or back surfaces. The back of mine looks almost pristine, and I never used a case of any kind.

I'll be a little sad when my 6 finally arrived and I retire my scuffed 5.
